Nadal loses, History created at Rolland Garros!
Nadal lost his first match in 32nd attempts. He is out of the French open. No one thought this could happen. He had not lost a set in last 2 years.
Soderling played match of his life. He was aggressive and dominated Nadal completely. Going for the lines with his big forehands, he had Nadal on run through out the match.
It was one of best modern games at Rolland Garros for sure. It was tight it was entertaining. It was baseline slugfest tennis at its best. Nadal hardly comes to net, Soderling used it to his advantage and hit more winners.
Nadal was not looking his ominous self in this tourney in earlier matches. He had enough for his first 3 matches to win them in straight sets. Matches were closer than shoreline suggested. I was thinking something was going to give soon.
It did. One guy had to play his best and Nadal struggling will give us a new French Open Champion.
When Soderling won the first set, he took with a piece of history. No one had done that in last 2 years.
