T-20 World cup : Serious contenders
One T-20 tournament is over and other is upon us. T-20 will start ruling the cricket sooner or later. It’s harsh truth. Connoisseur of test cricket like I, have accepted with bit of salt.
T-20 world cup is being held in England from June 5th to 21st. T-20 concept was started by England. As with everything invented by Englishman all others have overtaken them. They are playing catch up now.
Lets try the elimination.
- Ireland, Netherlands and Scotland will not win anything.
- Bangladesh West Indies are not capable of 2 consecutive wins.
- Pakistan, England and New Zealand are good compared 5 teams above.
It leaves us with India, South Africa, Australia and Sri-Lanka. They should make it to semifinals.
Sri Lanka could be replaced with any one of England, Pakistan and New Zealand.
I will borrow Dhoni’s words; from semifinals it’s anybody’s game. Any one individual can turn it on and drub the most consistent team of the tournament.
India should and might retain the trophy with them. All their players were playing in IPL. They can take that momentum and make the most of it.
