Spineless ICC rejects ICL’s plea.
Acting like a slave to BCCI, ICC did not go in for bold move of accepting ICL’s plea. It has left players at the respective boards mercy, if they want to return to domestic and international circuit.
"After due consideration, the Board resolved that the application should be rejected. In relation to the possibility of players returning to official cricket from the ICL, the Board reiterated to Members the importance of protecting the fabric of the game. A clear message needed to be sent that players could not swap between official and unofficial cricket at will.”
It’s such a shame that money is ruling cricket. Power hungry people are at the helm of BCCI. Using power, money they are making out of cricket mad Indian people to their advantage. This is their way of teaching others what will happen if any player goes against them.
"However, it was confirmed that the nature and scope of any sanction would ultimately be a matter for each individual Member to determine, based on its own local conditions. The Board gave the matter careful consideration but looking at the criteria set out in the regulations, felt the application for approval could not be granted,"
"Safety and suitability of the venue, including anti-corruption considerations and the safety of players and officials. Whether the event has any meaningful role in the development of the game or has a specific charitable or benevolent purpose. Whether the event causes any conflict or perceived conflict with ICC events"
ICC said in its statement. Listing the criteria for recognizing unofficial cricket, the ICC said such an event should first have the approval of the board of the country where it is being staged.
Will ICL take ICC to court? Do they have the will to fight?
How long will the players associated with ICL have to bear the brunt of BCCI? Will Ambati Royadu who is an exceptional talent get a nod from selection panel acting on behest of BCCI and get into national squad?
I don’t think so. It’s only a wishful thinking on my side.
