Kaif axed from Rajasthan Royals: Is this the end of the Road ?
Mohammad Kaif has been axed from Rajasthan Royals for second edition in Cape Town on Wednesday.Manoj Badale, chairman and co-owner, said Kaif was not in the shortlisted 17-18 players by management for the Twenty20 leagues this edition.
Dinesh Salunkhe, Paras Dogra, Anup Revandkar, Srideep Mangela, Ashraf Makda and Azhar Malik are the other players who will return to India. The only way for Kaif to get into team is injury to any other player.
"It has always been a target to pick a final squad of 17-18 players, and this year we have an even stronger squad than last year. It is disappointing to have to let go of any players, as they are all stars in our view,"
"Much of the attention will focus on Mohammed Kaif, who has been a key part of our success to date — not just as a batsman, but as a role model for our younger Indian players. He has been extremely supportive of the decision, which says a lot about him as a person.
Kaif, was purchased for a hefty $675,000 was a disaster in the first edition. He played all the matches and managed 176 runs at an average of just 16.
The 28-year-old has played 13 Tests and 125 ODIs for India. He has not been in the reckoning for any format for Indian squad for a while. Now having dumped from even Rajasthan Royals it looks like the end of the road for Kaif. We wish, he turns things around and comes back stronger and plays for India.
