Indian Cricket League threaten to sue ICC !
We all could see this coming. ICL has threatened to take legal action against the ICC if the governing body rejects its application for official recognition.
The ICC Executive Board meets in Dubai on April 17 and 18 during which it will consider the ICL application for ICC approval to stage unofficial cricket.
Subhash Chandra, Chairman, Essel Group, said.
"We are hopeful to receive official recognition at the ICC Executive Board meeting scheduled for April 17th and 18th in Dubai, failing which we will pursue legal options,"
The ICL is keen on the ICC ‘recognizing’ its players. They are clear in their stand that the ‘rebel’ tag should be removed from the league and the BCCI and ICC should recognize the players’ official status and restore pension and other benefits.
ICL also announced its plans of Season-3 to be scheduled in ‘October-November 2009′, preceded by the ICL 20-20 Domestic Tournament and conditioning camp for its players.
ICL business head Himanshu Mody revealed about offer from BCCI to close ICL and own a franchise in Indian Premier League.
