Create window for IPL ! Warne urges ICC.

Shane Warne captain-coach of the Rajasthan Royals has called upon the International Cricket Council to create a window for Indian Premier League. By doing so, every international player would get an opportunity to participate in it.

Players from countries such as Australia, England and West Indies are not available for the entire series because of commitments with their national teams.

"If the ICC had any common sense, they would create a window for the IPL. No international cricket should be played in June. The IPL could then be cut to four weeks, which would allow all international players to play in it.”

"The IPL is a wonderful advertisement for the game. If there was any common sense, the BCCI (Indian board) and the ICC would then compensate all the unions with some money for allowing their players to play in the IPL."

Two points to note:

  1. One, creating a window by freeing up one month within ICC calendar. This could be logically worked out.
  2. Second, About compensating the other boards for allowing players to play in IPL. It makes sense, This would prevent situation where cricket board and player association are not at logger heads with each other.

Hope ICC and BCCI come to some resolution on this and organize it better in 3rd edition.
