IPL Awards: One more option for money making !
Lalit Modi and his cronies are planning for formal awards for IPL similar to ICC awards. Funny isn’t it? For an event that would not be held more than 45 days you want a whole host of awards and ceremony for it that too in London?
In an earlier post we talked about how IPL organizers are trying to make more money. This is one more such idea. The awards are expected to have 40 categories that will include the best bowler, batsman and fielder
The proposed awards once finalized will be unveiled before the tournament begins. Award ceremony will be held after the event probably in London as celebrity owners think the destination offers a good marketing proposition as compared to any other location.
“The owners want to make the awards an event that will have performances by cricketers as well as Bollywood stars. And given the huge Indian Diaspora there, they think London is a good marketing proposition,”
This would not be any different from annual IIFA awards ceremony that bollywood organizes.
Economictimes points out that the media rights for this event would be sold separately. Current IPL broadcasting rights are with Multi Screen Media (MSM).
Note that Twenty20 world-cup will be held soon after IPL. Organizers want the franchise owners to get the commitment from the start cricketers to attend the event. So that it could make it complete masala entertainment with bollywood stars and cricket stars performing.
Go IPL Go! Make more money. That’s all you care for.
PS: Sreesanth would be itching to show off dancing his skills that way he is retained with his current franchise.
