Dhoni and expected rain screw India’s chance to win 2-0
I am pissed off to say the least. India had a golden chance to win the series and also record their 100th test match. Look at what they did to themselves. When you have a varied and talented attack like the one India has now, you have to back your self to get the opposition out below 500 on the 4th and 5th day pitch.
If you go on to bat for an hour on 4th day for useless 80 odd runs and waste an hour? This is what will happen. Dhoni for all his smartness has come a cropper here.
We had a lead of 1-0 and 550 + runs to defend at the end of 3rd day. I agree to the decision of not declaring overnight. First thing in the morning Dhoni should have declared and let loose his bowlers on tired New Zealand batsmen. They would have been thinking about declaration over night expecting India to bat on for some more time. They would not have had a clue.
There have been instances where rain has helped opposition. India has lost their last wicket and minutes after torrential rains have flooded the cricket ground.This is not a case like unexpected rain disrupting your chance to win; this is utter disregard for history and careless attitude to say the least.
Dhoni might not be so smart after all. May be his luck ran out this time.
Lets not forget this act of continuing to bat on 4th day denied 100th test win for India. Also 2-0 series win.
