Pakistan squad for T-20 World Cup as PCB shoots itself in foot again!
Pakistan have included Abdul Razzaq, Rana Naved and Imran Nazir in their preliminary squad for the Twenty20 World Cup, these players are banned from the national team as they are aligned to ICL. Abdul Qadir said they would be retained only if PCB and ICC clears them. The International Cricket Council and its members do not recognize the league on the insistence of BCCI.
It’s an act of foolishness, knowing to what length BCCI will go to ensure that these players are restricted in participating in any ICC recognized events. I am hoping sense prevails and these players get to play for their nation.
Razzaq and Naved, along with senior batsman Mohammad Yousuf, had informed the PCB they were willing to forgo their ICL contracts if they were reconsidered for national selection.
Selectors will shortlist the final 15 for the tournament in England in June from these 30.
Preliminary squad: Younis Khan (Capt), Salman Butt, Nasir Jamshed, Khalid Latif, Shahzab Hasan, Umar Amin, Ahmed Shahzad, Misbah-ul-Haq, Faisal Iqbal, Fawad Alam, Shoaib Malik, Shahid Afridi, Sohail Tanvir, Yasir Arafat, Kamran Younis, Shoaib Akhtar, Umar Gul, Rao Iftikhar, Aitzaz Cheema, Mohammad Aamir, Wahab Riaz, Imran Ali, Danish Kaneria, Yasir Shah, Kamran Akmal, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Abdul Razzaq, Rana Naved, Imran Nazir, Abdul Rehman.
PS: If you think PCB is the worst, there are good number of boards competing. WICB and ECB are stupid enough to give a run for PCB. Zimbabwe is not considered.
