Is Gambhir Most Valuable Player of India?

clip_image001 I am sure same thought might have crossed many a minds. Gautam Gambhir is on a hot streak. Piling up runs and passing many a milestone. He is complete player now. The confidence success brings is clearly showing up.

Statistics will prove his worth without doubt. Mere numbers don’t add up. When and how the runs made counts too.  Gambhir passes all tests with ease.

To gauze a batsman you ask few questions. Has he scored runs against best bowling attacks of his time? Has he scored runs around the globe? Has he succeeded in variable circumstances? Can he attack and defend as team needs?

He has made runs against Aussies, Sri Lankan spin twins, England, In New Zealand. He has played attacking game most of the times, but when team needed him to grind and grit it out he has done it too. The 137 springs to mind, so does 167 where I thought he would never get out.

He is been successful in formats of the game. Scored runs in ODI’s T-20 games and most importantly in test cricket.

If he is not recognized in the same league as Sehwag its cause this bloody Indian line up has too many great players. Sehwag, Rahul, Sachin, Laxman – that’s the problem for Gautam. Those folks have set the bar pretty high. He is getting there. I did not even consider Yuvi and Dhoni.

He is the MVP at this point. Scoring runs heavily, everywhere and in all formats.

Kudos to Gambhir.
