Indian squad for T20 World Cup
India (oops BCCI) has released a tentative squad for T20 World Cup which will be held right after IPL. There were really no surprise in the squad but few glaring exclusions.
MS Gony as CricketWithBallls has rightly pointed is missing in the squad. He played for Chennai Super Kings in the first IPL edition and made his mark with his performances.
Sachin Tendulkar is missing in the list. Maybe he opted out. That could be the only reason for the exclusion of Tendulkar. Remember, he is god.
Coming to some surprise inclusions Irfan Pathan, Praveen Kumar and RP Singh made it to the team but are not cut for T20 tournaments. RP Singh may try his luck in test matches but he gives way too many runs and needs more time to settle.
There are only 4 overs to bowl and the time is lost in settling itself. Remember this is a 30 member squad and only 11 will make it to them. Between the 3 of them only Praveen Kumar might make it to the 11. Not that I like but that’s how things have been in the past.
Dhoni’s lucky mascot Joginder Sharma is missing in the list. Maybe Dhoni felt he is no longer his mascot or maybe he was counting on Misbah-Ul-Haq not being there. Either way no sweat.
