Royal Challengers 2009 team

This team was dubbed a test team last year. Not sure what Vijay Malya was doing when the team was being picked. May be he was drinking a beer and taking pictures for his calendar!

They did not go anywhere. Actually they must be happy not to be ending up last. None of the foreign players lived up to their potential or money. Apart from Captain Rahul Dravid and Ross Taylor no one contributed. That was the bane of BRC. 11-member team will not go places with 2 people contributing.

This time they should pack a punch in batting. Jesse Ryder, Robin Uthappa, Kevin Pietersen, Rahul Dravid, Ross Taylor, Virat Kolhi that looks a lot better line up !  I was unable to figure why Kallis is in team, until they announced he would be the captain once KP leaves. Stupidity to say the least!

Following is the Bangalore Royal Challengers IPL 2009 Team.

International players: Jacques Kallis, Mark Boucher, Dale Steyn, Roelof van der Merwe and Dillon du Preez (South Africa), Cameroon White and Nathan Bracken (Australia), Kevin Pietersen (England), Ross Taylor and Jesse Ryder (New Zealand)
Indian players: Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble, Robin Uthappa, Praveen Kumar, Virat Kohli, Wasim Jaffer, Manish Pandey, Sreevats Goswami, Suteesh R, Pankaj Singh, Vinay Kumar, Bhuvanesh Kumar, Karan Sharma, Saurav Bandekar, Tinu Yohanan, Bharat Chipli, B Akhil, Devraj Patil, J Arun Kumar, KP Appana, Sunil Joshi, Gauvar Dhiman, Jitendra Patil, Udit Patel, Mithun A. Aravind, S. Kedar Jadhav, Gautam CM, Raju Bhatkal, Rajesh Bishnoi, Ishank Jaggi and Rohit Sabharwal

I don’t know half of the names in the Indian players list.

Jesse Ryder and Nathan Bracken are the ones to watch. Ryder proved what impact he can make. Nathan Bracken is proven shorter version bowler. How they missed him last time.

Virat Kohli and Robin Uthappa are key players for me from Indian players.

Good luck to BRC. Hopefully money turns out well spent. Don’t expect them go beyond 4th position this time.

PS: Get Rid of Jacques Kallis, Anil Kumble, Sunil Joshi, J Arun Kumar. Team suddenly looks lot better.
