In defense of Virendar Sehwag

Much has been talked about and much has been written about Sehwag’s captaincy in the 2nd test against New Zealand. To break the ice Sehwag is a stand-in skipper. So, he knows that it is none of his business to captain a cricket team.

But when asked he did not deny it and took the responsibility. Now, do you expect to change someone’s batting style overnight? No sane person would expect that  - especially with Sehwag. He has his own style and it really doesn’t matter who the bowler is or what the situation of the match is.

Interesting thing is - it has served him well over the years. He is the man who has the chutzpah to hit a six when he is on the verge of a triple century in a test match. Players like Sehwag are hard to come by.

He might not be a good captain but he is one hell of a batsman. If you are not sure about that ask Vettori. Don’t expect to change his batting style.
