Jesse Ryder – Lucky Pick from BRC
During the IPL player auction, our assessment of the choices and money paid for each, it was pointed out that Jesse Ryder might not be a great pick at all. It was done so with his history of addition and other incidents. He has been through rehabilitation centre a couple of times.
I have been made to eat the humble pie and guess what I am happy about it. He plays for my home town Bangalore Royal Challengers. Least I can say is “I am impressed”. He has kept me glued when he has batted irrespective of the format. I kept hoping him to fail sooner than later.
I am more than convinced now! Not cause he scored heavily in T-20 and ODIs but he has scored back to back hundreds in testing conditions not pitches always. It is the temperament shown that gets the respect. Any cricketer with such natural talent and a temperament like that is only going places.
I am not sure if Vijay Mallya new anything about this. Nonetheless a damn good pick.
He bowls his tidy medium pacers too. Now IPL being in South Africa he will be able to contribute handsomely.
