Will Ganguly be sacked as Knight Riders captain?
The only thing that is holding back Saurav Ganguly is Kolkata. It went berserk when Ganguly was sacked from the national team. He was re-instated later on. Having or leaving was a political decision so far. If Dalmiya is there then Ganguly is in if not he will be under radar.
Now that he has retired the same logic will not hold good right? Wrong. The same logic still holds good. Kolkata Knight Riders as the team name suggests rides on Kolkata. IPL has moved out of India leave alone Kolkata. Kolkata Knight Riders could as well be Cape Town Knight Riders or Durban Knight Riders.
What will save Ganguly?
Right now nothing can save Ganguly - except his performance. There has been no performances from Ganguly for the lack of opportunities. It would be interesting to see if retains a place in the squad and the icon player title.
Knight Riders is a team known for their impeccable hospitality. It asked few players to leave the hotel and team in the middle of the tournament. Given the team’s reputation Ganguly’s days are numbered.
