South Africa emerge Favorites

South Africa have emerged front runners to host the IPL. We did some analysis here about why South Africa was better positioned unlike England and it turned out right. Lalit Modi has flown to South Africa to discuss and decision should be out by Tuesday evening.

Hosting 59 matches in 40 days at such a short notice was tough. Add, its ongoing domestic season and T-20 tournament., it would have been a nightmare for England. No one can take so much cricket in such a short duration.

South Africa presented the best bet, as their domestic season ends just before IPL gets kicked off. TV rights presented its own issues for England which is not the case with South Africa.Super sport owns both IPL and international broadcasting rights in South Africa.

Other factors add up too. Gerald Majola and Modi worked as founding members for Champions Trophy last year. BCCI will never forget that ECB wanted to kick-start EPL to rival IPL. Modi knows few things about how and when to snub. Giles Clarke might be left to ruin his plan of EPL.

So its advantage South Africa.  Again, things might change in blink of an eye. No assurance unless its officially announced.
