England or South Africa?

Now that IPL is moving out of India, where actually you would prefer it to be moved? I hardly care about it as long as matches are played and timings are ok for my viewing.  Even if they were held in India I had no plans of going to stadium to watch. Its recession guys, I have not got any hike !

Now there are only two options, England and South Africa. I am not so sure about England actually. There are some serious backers who want to have the IPL in England. Only good reason I found was “It helps Indian team to acclimatize  for T-20 world cup. Other that England actually creates more problems than necessary.

  1. County season will start around the same time.
  2. Test and ODI series against West Indies overlaps the IPL
  3. Logistics and costs hosting and broadcasting from England could be very high.
  4. Not many counties Yorkshire being one are not keen on it.
  5. Too much T-20 for  England in short span.  It is hosting T-20 world cup in June.

Couple of things that might work in their favor is Giles Clarke wants it badly and England crowd is multi racial, multi cultural. It should help the ground revenues and over all building up of atmosphere.

South Africa, seems to have prepared for this. For them season ends on April 9th. Nothing better from logistical point. There are 5 truly international and other 3 international venues. I would opt for South Africa. Seems to be a strong lobbying going on in BCCI for England, so it might be advantage England as of now.

Strange things have happened over last 2 weeks. So lets wait and watch the drama unfold.
