IPL move - Politically Motivated ?
IPL is going out of India. Is it just that security which central government declined to provide,led to this move from IPL organizers? My initial guess is no. Unable to provide security was played out as an issue of national pride, for political mileage not so long ago. It was purely to pressurize the government to provide security.
IPL chairman was all along so confident and brash about being able to stage the IPL in India and per schedule. Now he has become a laughing stock. He thought he could make things work using political clout.
There are many in BCCI and IPL who are anti congress and they rule the cricket in India. Obvious ploy was to try and stage it without central government aid and use it against incumbent. May be after security assesment they understood that there is a higher possibility of it backfiring than succeeding.
Hence they smartly withdrew in the last possible moment and started the blame game, after the move out of India was announced. Had the matches been held and some incident occurred, it would have created a political wave against BJP. It is something they would do without, so close to general elections. Elections come once in 5 years!
Hence IPL is moving out of India. Looks like, there were cocntingent plans by IPL folks. Lalit Modi is smart bloke and I will give it to him.
