Deccan Chargers – 2009 Team
As the countdown to IPL season II starts with all the thrill of Hitchcock movie, we present you with teams,our assessment and players to watch out for. 2 each from international and Indian contingent. One dark horse or a surprise package!
Lets start with the team which brought up the rear of the points table in Season I.
They really did not live up to the potential and hype! Ending up below a team full of test players is worst thing. From here on, anything they do apart from ending up last would be considered as positive for them, which is great position to be in !!

With this team, I really cant see beyond Rohit Sharma and Pragyan Ojha in Indian players. VVS failed big time and is considered as not fit for this format. Rohit and Ojha are my impact players.
International players screwed up big time in Season I. Andrew Symonds failed to make any impact. Gibbs, an explosive player never provided impetus! For match winning and all round ability, its hard to look beyond Adam Gilchrist and Andrew Symonds. They are my picks from international players.
Fidel Edwards could be a surprise package. Those who saw his spell against England when he routed them for 51 will agree. They lacked in bowling, but Edwards should provide teeth and attacking options this time. RP Singh should be able to do decent job.
My prediction: Will improve on their season I standings. Don’t see them going beyond 5-6th place in standing. If they get there, everyone would have played beyond their abilities consistently.
