IPL – Sinking Boat ?
Its confirmed , IPL is a sinking. There is too much confusion, problems, chaos surrounding it at this moment. IPL Season II seems like a distant dream. Lalit Modi a dream merchant. Will he be able to pull everything and make season II happen? I have serious doubts.
Its being turned into as issue of national pride. How its related to national pride is anyone’s guess. Some games played by politicos involved with BCCI. BCCI is not affiliated to GOI. Its an independent body making loads of money on cricket crazy nation. Arrogant enough to rule the ICC coz of the money power it possess.
There are far too many issues and far less time. BCCI and IPL have been rubbing many people in the wrong way for a while. All of them will be eager to get back at BCCI with vengeance, in whatever the way they can ! FICA, ICL, all other cricket boards who have been to look like whores, bending in front of money power. They must be licking their lips ! Don’t forget the ECB run by a megalomaniac Giles Clarke. Mr. Stanford came into picture as Giles Clarke wanted to rival Modi.
Security issues due general elections are creating rescheduling of matches of IPL. After home
ministry asked them to reschedule the twice revised schedule. It is a big concern. State governments have rejected and categorically stated that they can’t provide security for IPL.
Now there is broadcasting row with Sony. BCCI has terminated the contract with Sony on Friday. Sony has moved to court and Mumbai high court has put a freeze on signing new contract. Broadcasting row could not have come at worse time for IPL.
With so many problems, IPL has its hands full. They have not helped themselves by biting more than they could chew !
Keeping my fingers crossed !
