Lalit Modi’s grip is slipping !
When it rains, it pours! Its getting worse for Modi with each passing day. IPL has its share of problems with sponsor issues. Now the undisputed king of RCA – Rajsthan Cricket Association has been dethroned by Sanjay Dixit by 5 votes. Sanjay before turning foe, helped Modi to become the King at RCA. Modi nipped him in bud, seeing the threat. Sanjay has his revenge now, sweet one!
“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you ” so goes a saying. Modi used power as a means to dethrone Rungta family who held sway at RCA for over 38 years. Along the way up, rubbed few people in wrong areas.
Sanjay was one of them. A wily IAS officer, used power to show exit door to Modi with help of Ashok Ghelot, current Chief minister. Tides have turned big time. ![]()
Modi will continue to be vice president of PCA – Punjab Cricket Association. He will also continue to be chairman and commissioner of IPL. He does not represent his home state, which means he cant vote in any BCCI decisions.
Will any of this affect IPL and matches in Jaipur. Modi and BCCI says “no”. How long? What if new board starts throwing spanner every now and then ? Life has come full circle for Modi.
The same thing holds good for BCCI. With its coffers full and overflowing, it rules world cricket. Time will change and tides will turn. BCCI might be snubbed by every other country or at least not entertain it. I really don’t see that happening unless China shows interest in cricket.
