Mr.Pain in the wrong area retires!
Fantastic news for all cricket loving Indians. Its not about cricketers or administrators. Its about the worst elite umpire. You guessed it right. Steve Buckner who troubled Indian cricket more than anyone else, is retiring. That to me means many more wins for India and less racist decisions.
Steve Bucknor at 62, has decided to hang up on giving death sentences to batsman. Third test from 19-23 of March, between Australia-SA will be last time he will officiate. Couple of ODIs against WI - England on 27th and 29th. He will be goner. What a relief ! He was a real pain in wrong area. He has stood in record number of matches. 126 tests & 179 ODIs. He should have retired at least 10 years ago. SB was a good umpire, what pained me was number of decisions he gave against India and Asian countries as opposed to decisions in favor of non-Asian ( read Aussies or England ).
I remember a good number of decisions he doled out to Indian against Australia in 2004 and let Ricky Ponting and others get away umpteen number of times in that series particulary Sidney Test and Steve waugh’s last one. Had it not been to SB and PP we should have been the first nation to beat Australia in the new Millennium. Thanks SB for all horrible times, I know now when the pain goes what a relief it is.
PS: Parthiv Patel should hang up wicket keeping gloves. He is not cut for it. I saw him in a Duleep trophy match putting down 3 sitters in a matter of 5-7 minutes of the same bowler. I would have caught them. Spare us Patel just like Bucknor did.
