Modi is Stanford in Making?
Is this something common with T-20 tournaments? As a precursor to Stannford episode, outlookindia have put in a profile of our own Stanford sorry, Modi. He is accused of many things and other factfiles you might have read or might be interested. I hope BCCI does not end up with too many eggs on its face, but do they care? All they care is money. Trust, respect are not commonly heard is BCCI corridors. Modi should be able to come out clean, knowing the Indian political & judiciary systems.
Ponting goes missing.
Unlike Stanford, Ponting has not done any fraud, but certainly made good decision. Country should always take the precedence. Many people might disagree. Aussie captain decided to put his coutrry and has decided to not participate in 2nd edition of IPL. Aussies have a packed international schedule. After having lost to SA at home he sure does not become an aussie captain who lost Ashes twice. It would be held against him forever. Hence the decision. Was he not aware of the schedule all these days? He was, but it takes time to weigh things and we will give him benefit of doubt here.
Mitchell Johnson, Michael Clarke have put coutry first and did not participate in this or either inagural IPL edition. One more honourable exception from england is Stuart Broad, a smart young fella & pretty good cricket player decided not to take part. Advantage with them is they all are young and have time for future editions of IPL or any other PL. Its not case with Ponting, with burden of team in transition he cant risk it. Late but good decision mate.
Stanford found but damage is done.
Its late am sure, 5 WI players who invested their prize money back in Stanford investments, along with Sarwan & Chanderpaul might never get it back. Heartening though was both of their performances against England on last day of 3rd test match saving match for WI. Both scored 100s to secure a hard fought draw. England must be distraught after not having won it.
Flintoff injured but bowls 12 overs to win match for england.This might turn out to be big blow for Freddie and IPL. We dont know the extent of injury as yet. Freddie might go Ponting way. So 2 high profile players are almost gone.
