Knight Riders act cheaply and dump 5 players
Kolkata Knight Riders have dumped 5 players from the team as they do not have any role to play. These players will not be paid for the rest of the season as per the contract. However, they might be paid for the season so far. This is quite unfortunate incident and the could well be the first ranked incident in the IPL Hall of Shame. This beats Sreesanth’s crying, Bhajji’s slapping and Mallya’s firing. The five players who were dropped are :
- Ranadeb Bose
- Cheteshwar Pujara
- Sourasish Lahiri
- Yashpal Singh
- Hokkaido
Funny thing is these players never played a single match and the only opportunity they had was in the nets. John Buchanan has looked at them in the nets and found them wanting and said there is no need for these players for the rest of the tournament. Reason given was they wanted to concentrate on final 11 or 14. Shah Rukh supports this move and insists that they are still part of this team. Buchanan gave each player their development needs and he hopes that they will make it to the team next year.
This is so cheap on Shah Rukh’s part to drop a few players with only 17 days to go. The main reason might be he is bleeding money and wants to cut costs. He has competed with some corporate houses and he might not have the cash to sustain to go any further with this team. That is the reason why he might have done this. Even if that is the case he is targeting low hanging fruits. Following this incident I really hope that Knight Riders lose some matches and might find themselves in a position where the really need those 5 players. I do not really know how they play but all I know is they are treated unfairly and Shah Rukh and Knight Riders acted cheaply.
