Rajastan Royals regain top position
Good batting from Rajastan Royals and some insane batting from Deccan Chargers has helped Rajastan Royals regain top position in points table. They are sitting pretty with 12 points to be followd by Kings XI Punjab. After an ordinary performance in their previous game they came back strong to win their battle against Chargers.
Chargers started off very well without losing a wicket and added 61 runs. Then they started losing wickets and also their way. They have managed a total of 140 which is never enough considering the weak bowling attach of Chargers. Gilchrist scored 61 runs and the middle order failed. They were helped by some late hitting from Venugopal Rao.
Chargers bowling was equally disappointing and the fielding abysmal. Greame Smith and Yusuf Pathan opened the innings in the absence of Swapnil Asnodkar. They did well to score runs quickly without losing any wickets. Chargers never really had any plans for these batsmen except waiting for their mistakes. Those mistakes by Rajastan Royals came very late in the game. Smith and Yusuf departed in quick succesion but there was nothing left to score and Mohammad Kaif finished things off in style with the help of Shane Watson.
Royals at the top and Chargers at the bottom(almost). Not a very exciting game. Thorough professional performance by Rajastan Royals. Continually disappointing performance from the Deccan Chargers.
What went wrong for Deccan Chargers :
- Successive failure of Shahid Afridi and Hershelle Gibbs
- No top bowler for Chargers. Dropping Styris and picking Vaas might not be a bad choice.
- Wasting Afridi at No 4 and 5. He is not going to change the way he plays. So, why not let him open and see what happens. If he gets out let Gibbs come in and he can stabilize.
- Missing Laxman.
- Sloppy fielding
